Evert was introduced to Tilt-up Construction in 1998 when working for Neil Muller Construction. As research and development manager he had the privilege of studying the system with Neil Muller during a four-week USA visit. Valuable information was gained; but more than that they had the privilege to meet various role players in USA that made the system what it would become today. Evert was privileged to meet the founder of Thermomass. A company now owned and operated by Leviat.

Following this visit, various sample panels were constructed. Research and development took place over a 6-month period to understand how the system could be implemented on African soil. The African market is quite unique as we do not have access to inexpensive good quality timber for formwork and most of our cranes are telescopic cranes versus the track mounted boom cranes used extensively in the USA. It was this refinement and adapting that allowed Neil Muller Construction to successfully undertake 5 projects following this visit to the States In 1998:  A 462 panel shopping centre in Gaborone Botswana called Molopo Crossing / Avondale Winery / Royco Production facility site / water tanks for Woolworths and Clicks distribution centres in Cape Town.

Evert and Hazel started Integrated Solutions in 2003 and focussed mainly on the hospitality side for over 15 years.  Due to a strong belief in the system and passion for Tilt-Up construction Eco Cast was started in 2021 with a primary focus on Insulated Tilt-up buildings.

The very first tilt-up project that was completed was their own holiday home in Betty’s Bay where 13 panels were cast and tilted into position for the lower level of the structure.
